How we work

Editorial policy

The short version: we pick products we’d want our friends to spend money on, we link to retailers that actually carry them, and we tell you when an outbound link is affiliated. Below, the long version, in the order most readers ask about.

What we cover

Five desks: beauty, jewelry, handbags, boots, and occasion-fashion. Each is a vertical that rewards material knowledge — finishes, metals, leathers, fabrics, occasion fit — over volume. We pick what’s worth wanting first, then tell you what it costs across retailers.

How we pick what to feature

An editor decides what enters our edit. Three triggers usually start a new piece: a price drop on something we’ve liked for a long time; a new release that solves a real problem (waterproofing, true-shade match, occasion versatility); a question we keep getting from readers we know.

Within a category, we shortlist by hand from the universe our merchant partners actually carry. We read manufacturer specs and verified retailer reviews, ignoring promoted snippets and affiliate-stuffed listicles. We keep our shortlist small on purpose — three to ten picks per guide, not a hundred.

How prices stay current

Each product page reflects the price reported by the merchant’s feed at the most recent sync. The catalog syncs nightly per niche. Always confirm the price on the merchant’s own checkout page before buying — feeds can lag behind store changes by a few hours.

How affiliate commissions affect placement

They don’t. A merchant paying a higher commission rate does not earn better placement, a longer write-up, or a recommended-pick badge. Editor judgement decides ranking; the affiliate relationship decides only whether we have a tracked link to give you.

We decline gifted product, sponsored posts, sponsored comparisons, and any arrangement that makes the editor a merchant’s spokesperson. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page first.

How we disclose

Outbound product links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow". A short disclosure appears immediately above each affiliate call-to-action button. The site footer carries a permanent affiliate disclosure. Our full FTC disclosure lives at /disclosure.
